Datsun Bluebird Model 411
The second generation of the Bluebird appeared in 1963. The advertising copy at that time declared it, “An elegant design for a best-selling car”, and it was characterized by Nissan’s first monocoque body, as well as the beautiful European-inspired design by Pininfarina. However, the characteristic vehicle silhouette with its lower rear end proved to be unpopular with Japanese consumers, allowing its Toyota Corona rival to take the lead in sales for the first time. In 1966 a facelifted model that improved the rear end shape was launched.
