“ドイツの軍用機メーカーのメッサーシュミット社が生産したマイクロカー。　飛行機のコックピットのような軽量ボディに小型２サイクルエンジンを載せ、前後二人乗り（タンデムシート）である。バックギアを省略し、エンジンを逆回転させてバックした。第二次世界大戦後の一時期、ヨーロッパの数ヶ国でこのような超小型車が復興期の庶民の足として活躍した。このクルマやBMWイセッタなど、1950年代から60年代のマイクロカーは「バブル カー」とも呼ばれる。”

This vehicle is a microcar produced by the German military aircraft manufacturer Messerschmitt. The lightweight vehicle body that resembles an airplane cockpit is equipped with a small two-stroke engine and features tandem seating (one passenger behind the driver). The vehicle has no gear to drive in reverse; instead the engine is stopped and then restarted, going backwards. During the period of reconstruction following W.W.II, extremely small microcars such as this were manufactured in several European countries and served as a major means of transportation for people. The microcars manufactured in the 1950s and 1960s, including the KR200 and BMW Isetta, are also referred to as bubble cars.
