“1935年に登場したリンカーンゼファはまさしく完成された流線型であった。前開きのエンジンフード、フェンダーに埋め込まれたヘッドランプ、形跡だけをとどめるランニングボードなど、美しくまとめられた未来的なデザインはたちまち人気の的となった。とくにモノコック構造から生まれた前後のバランスは絶妙であり、そのスタイリングは、フォルクスワーゲンにも強い影響を与えている。この1937年モデルも細かなマイナーチェンジは受けるが、基本的にはデビュー時と変わるところはない。”

The Lincoln Zephyr was introduced in 1935 featuring a thoroughly streamlined design. Integrating such elements as the back-hinged engine hood, headlights embedded in the front fenders, and ornamental vestiges of running boards, this stylish and futuristic car proved immediately popular. Its superb front and rear balance — one of the benefits of the monocoque body structure — gave a strong influence on the Volkswagen Beetle’s design, too. Except for some minor changes, the 1937 model in our collection is basically the same as the 1935 model.
