☆番外編（クラシック）37年（昭和12年）式.シトロエン 11B（France/Citroën）

　“1920年代、通称5CVで大成功を収めたアンドレ・シトロエンは1934年に前輪駆動システムを採用した7CVを発表。わずかに遅れて主力である11Bを加えた。シトロエンはFF方式を導入したことで低重心を持つボディ設計を可能にしたばかりか、ワイドトレッドやモノコックボディ、前輪独立懸架など斬新なメカニズムも採用。これらがもたらすロードホールディングは当時のスポーツカーをしのぐものであったし、安定性や乗り心地のすばらしさは、のちのフランス車の特色になったのである。”

André Citroën, who had achieved great success during the 1920s with the 5CV, introduced the front-wheel-drive model 7CV in 1934. This was immediately followed by the 11B, which was to become the flagship model of Citroën. Its front-engine, front-wheel-drive layout led to an innovative body design with a low center of gravity, with such advanced features as wide treads, a monocoque structure, and a front-wheel independent-suspension system. The 11B’s roadholding ability surpassed even that of contemporary sports cars, and its excellent stability and ride comfort became the benchmark for all subsequent French cars.
