“戦前のフランスを代表する高級実用車。大量生産車に大胆な流線型を採用して成功した初のヨーロッパ車。湾曲した大きなフロントグリルの中にヘッドランプをしまい込んだデザインが特徴で、曲線を描くバンパーや、ボディーに沿う黄色のラインがエレガントさを醸し出しています。プジョーのシンボルであるライオンが、ラジエーター・グリルの上や、リヤ・タイヤカバーにもデザインされています。実用面ではサイドステップが無いため、ボディー幅を広げて室内を広くしたことが特徴です。402系のコンバーチブルやディタッチャブルトップモデルは、「コンクール・デレガンス（女性とファッションと車のエレガンスを見せるコンクール）」に出展されるほど優美でした。”

Peugeot 402
A high-end practical vehicle symbolic of pre WWⅡ France, the Peugeot 402 was the first European car that successfully adopted streamlined styling.The recessed headlamps behind the curvaceous front grille give the car its distinct look. The gentry waved bumper and yellow lines that embrace the body’s contours add to the car’s elegance.Peugeot’s signature lion motif adorns top of the grille as well as the rear fender skirts. The side steps were dispensed with in favor of a wider body and more spacious cabin.The convertible and detachable-top models in the 402 series were entered into concours d’elegance, events that flaunted the elegance of ladies, haute couture fashion, and automobiles.
